 DEMENTIA LEAD PSW

Job description

Silver Lights Senior Services has recently committed to helping a client remain in their home and we are currently looking for a highly skilled, diligent, reliable Personal Support Worker who take pride in their work and enjoy working with seniors living with dementia.

We are looking for a Dementia Lead PSW to work specifically with a male client living with dementia who wishes to remain in his home. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with seniors living with dementia and responsive behaviors. We need someone confident in their abilities, good sense of humor, able to pick up on non-verbal cues, identify triggers, and is highly skilled in creating and carrying out individualized care plans.

The successful candidate will work in the Kawartha Lakes area and hours may vary, you will be required to work overnight, evening and alternating weekend shifts. Successful applicant MUST have reliable transportation and be willing to travel. Employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for group benefits plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide personal care (including, but not limited to: bathing, dressing, changing incontinence products, grooming)

  • Provide companionship

  • Administer bedside care if needed

  • Medication reminders and assistance

  • Light housekeeping

  • Meal preparation

  • Using company vehicle to transport client to and from Adult Day Program

Requirements include:

  • Personal Support Worker certificate/Health Care Aide certificate

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with individuals living with dementia

  • Confident in your ability to deal effectively with responsive behaviors associated with dementia

  • Additional requirements before employment include Vulnerable Sector Check, clean 3-year driver’s abstract, Food Handler’s certificate, up to date CPR and First Aid

  • Gentle Persuasive Approach training is an asset

  • DementiAbility Training is an asset

  • Being able to endure sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling

Salary: From $24.00 per hour

PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER (KIRKFIELD AREA)

Job Description:

Hourly Rate: $23 to start

Position Type: Full Time and Part Time, Permanent
